Apple mascot
Half blue. Half lighter blue. Entirely pleased to see you.
Origins
Two profiles, one seam, one very calm expression. Somebody asked what he would look like if you pulled him out of the sidebar and gave him a body — and this is the answer nobody could stop drawing.
He is about the size of a coffee cup. He does not do very much. That is broadly the appeal.
There is never just one of him.
One waves. The rest are lying down.
Say hello to the whole cast.
Twenty-two moods
Hover one and he perks up.
Variants
The one everybody means. Two blues, one seam, no notes.
Same guy, different mood. The bow is not negotiable.
Out in the world
Every sighting, thread and shelf appearance we know about. Send us more.
Seen him somewhere? Send it over and he goes on the wall.
Lil’ Finder Guy is the one that stuck. People also say Little Finder Guy, or just “the blue one.” He responds to all three with the same expression.
Because he is two profiles looking past each other. The seam down the middle is the whole design: the pale half is one face, the deeper half is the other, and neither of them will admit it.
Calm, mildly startled, and enthusiastic about very small events. He owns one dog, one oversized sweater, one pair of sunglasses, and no opinion he is prepared to defend.
He waves. Once or twice he has shouted. Most of the time he stands there and lets you decide what he is thinking, which is the entire trick.
Both, depending on how you read it. Each pose is a small day he had. Line them up and you get about a week — which is as much plot as he has ever needed.
New poses, new sightings, occasional nonsense.
